May 12, Liz Cheney  (May be sung to, “Get Along, Little Dogies) (1)

On my mornin’ walk past the Capitol building,

I spied a blonde lady, a’ walkin’ along.

Her head was held high but I saw she was saddened

So, as she approached me, I sang her this song.

Whoopie ti, yi, yo, get along, Liz Cheney.

It’s your misfortune and none of my own.

Whoopie ti, yi, yo, get along, Liz Cheney.

The GOP party’s no longer your home.

This springtime, Republicans round up their dogies  (2)

They brand every one and castrate all the guys.

Before they’re released to go graze on the prairie,

They all must agree to support Donald’s lies.

Whoopie ti, yi, yo, get along, Liz Cheney.

It’s your misfortune that you walk alone.

Whoopie ti, yi, yo, get along, Liz Cheney.

You’re walkin’ alone ‘neath the Capitol dome.

There’s only one bull who can mount all the heifers.

And, we know Liz Cheney refused to submit.

So Donald Trump called up his foreman, McCarthy,

And said, “Cut her out; she won’t eat my bullshit.”

Whoopie ti, yi, yo, get along, Liz Cheney,

You wouldn’t eat lies, now you’re walking alone.

Whoopie ti, yi, yo, get along, Liz Cheney,

Do you think Wyoming will welcome you home?

  • “Whoopie Ti, Yi, Yo, Get Along Little Dogies” is an old cowboy song, probably based on an original Irish tune. There are many recordings.  I like those by the Sons of the Pioneers and by Roy Rogers.
  • “Dogies,” pronounced with a long “O,” a term used for runted and orphaned calves.
