A core group of the band will be performing in between readings of Bette Pegas’s book at the Natural History Museum on November 17th in the Charmaine & Maurice Kaplan Theater. Steve, Daniel and Dwight will be the Galapagos Mountain Boys for the evening. Instead of just a couple of songs, they will be performing 8 scientific gospel songs about Darwin, Alfred Wallace, and human evolution. Join the band and Bette for a fascinating event in honor of Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday anniversary and the 150th year since the publication of the Origin of Species on 24 November 1859. I will not be selling our CDs or t-shirts, but the museum gift shop will be selling CDs (most likely only Darwin, Darn It) that evening. Night at the Museum: Art Inspired by Darwin

Book reading and signing with Bette Blaydes Pegas with live music by The Galapagos Mountain Boys. Enjoy a night at the San Diego Natural History Museum with several artists giving a reading, nature photography slide show and music, all inspired by Charles Darwin. Listen and experience how Darwin and his scientific theories have inspired music, photography, literature, and more. Bette Blaydes Pegas will read from Chasing a Dream in the Galápagos: A Personal Evolution, including her essay on Darwin. Dr. Stephen Baird and his bandmates in The Galapagos Mountain Boys will play their tongue-in-cheek “scientific gospel” musical homages to Darwin, natural selection, evolution, and the responsibility of conservation.
