Donald at the Bat – Day 1272, “We have met the enemy and he is us.”

Day 1272, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” (1)

We may vote Donald out in November;

Then, what shall we do about us?

Donald Trump will rage on through December,

Inflamed like a boil oozing pus.

But is Trump our disease or a symptom?

Our bodies and minds helped him grow.

Was it bigots and fools that would tempt him

To find out how far he could go?

In the Covid 19 conflagration,

Our country is in dire straits.

Trump’s still talking about immigration.

Misdirection: one of his traits.

We all think Donald Trump has mismanaged

As Covid has spread shore to shore.

We are dying; our image is damaged.

Free?  Brave?  Selfish?  What’s in our core?

Other countries have worked well together,

Considered what’s good for the whole,

But for us it was fun in beach weather,

The satisfied self was our goal.

Though we may vote Trump out in November

That will not excise our disease.

It’s imperative that we remember,

Our problem is not the Chinese.
