Being poor is bad for you.

Being black is harmful too.

And the two behave as one,

Nothing new beneath the sun.

Being poor may harm your health.

You buy better health with wealth.

 

Let us say that you are rich;

Life will not be such a bitch.

You have food and clothes and home,

Costly things, a pleasure dome.

If you’re ill, then you will mend;

That’s the wealthy dividend.

 

With Coronavirus here,

If you’re poor, there’s much to fear.

Underlying maladies

Will increase fatalities.

Sickness dwells among the poor.

Poverty throws wide the door.

 

COPD steals your breath;

Adding COVID means your death.

Asthma or blood pressure, high,

COVID 19, patients die.

Diabetic and obese,

COVID means your life may cease.

 

Being poor is bad for you.

Being black is scary too.

That may mean your health is poor.
