Donald at the Bat – Day 1090 (no 1089), Shifting Stories, Shifting Lies (parody to ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’)

Day 1090, Shifting Stories, Shifting Lies  (1)

Soleimani from Iran,

Pieces in a garbage can.

Shifting stories, shifting lies,

But by now, that’s no surprise.

Donald and his sycophants,

Growing noses, flaming pants.

Soleimani has to go,

Trump decided, months ago.

Now the target’s blown apart,

Donald’s had a change of heart,

Tweeted threats were imminent,

Which he misspelled, “eminent.”

Pence, Pompeo, caught off guard.

Keeping up with Trump is hard.

Hour by hour, his stories shift,

More lies for the press to sift.

Trump says this and Trump says that;

Donald Trump does not stand pat.

Congress said they’d like to hear

From Pompeo, loud and clear.

But Pompeo told them, “No.”

There’s somewhere he has to go.

(He would not know what to say,

So, he’ll simply stay away.)

We may not learn when or why

Soleimani had to die.

Now Iran shot down a plane,

Russians hacked in the Ukraine.

Thank God, Superbowl’s on tap,

Respite from important crap.

Football, TV, packed beer joints,

Where “a bomb” just means six points.

Watching millionaires compete,

Strong of arms and swift of feet.

It’s a war, but it’s just play.

Iran forgotten for one day.

(1)  May be sung to “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”  Original lyrics by Jane Taylor, 1806. The original melody was a French folk song from the 18th century.  Many composers wrote arrangements.  Perhaps the most famous were twelve variations by Mozart.
