September 4, The Right to Choose

September 4, The Right to Choose

There used to be a choice, that’s now undone.

Our women lost a right they thought they’d won.

Republicans can’t seem to understand,

“If you oppose abortion, don’t have one.”

Republicans can’t seem to understand,

There’s not just one religion in the land.

Not all agree abortion is a sin.

It was not codified by Moses’ hand.

Not all agree abortion is a sin.

Should this opinion be left just to men,

Who care for children’s health just ‘til they’re born?

(Especially if their mothers have dark skin?)

How can we care for kids just ‘til they’re born,

Then after that, treat poorer kids with scorn?

The GOP cares not for public good.

Is selfishness genetic and inborn?

Republicans don’t care for public good.

They say they’re Christians; don’t they think they should?

They seem to think that just white Christian men

Should make the rules, like old times, (in a hood.)

The GOP thinks just white Christian men,

Who once made all the rules, should rule again,

While women and black folks do what they’re told.

And, who cares how they vote?  White men should win.
