Our scientists hypothesize

And then test with experiments.

Acceptance of concepts relies

Upon supporting evidence.

 

Our clergymen theologize,

Defending faith-based reverence.

And nothing in their faith implies

It’s tested by experiments.

 

Politicians capitalize

On bigotry and ignorance

And, sometimes even demonize

Those who rely on evidence.

 

So, test, revere, politicize,

In which should we have confidence?

Is there a way to harmonize

These uses of intelligence?
