October 21, Republican Agenda

Introductory Chorus:

Keep them poor; keep them sick; keep them dumb.

Prosperity is only meant for some.

And overturning Roe v Wade’s a sign

“Our courts” will keep our womenfolk in line.

Verse:

We’ll keep all wages to a minimum,

Low wages cause rich donors to donate.

We favor profits to the maximum,

Then maybe “trickle down” will operate.

We don’t think women should get equal pay,

Because they’re not as big and strong as men.

Of course, we will oppose the ERA,

When women rise, we’ll slap them down again.

Chorus:

Keep them poor; keep them sick; keep them dumb.

Those “equal rights” are only good for some.

Though feminists think that they’re on a roll,

We’ll keep those loudmouth ladies in control.

Verse:

“Preserve Big Pharma’s profits,” is our creed.

If drugs are costly, big drug companies

Will donate to our campaigns, as agreed.

These sorts of deals are not yet felonies,

Though diabetics need their insulin,

It can’t be cheap, the doctrine of the right.

What diabetics lack is discipline.

They’d all be fine if they would just eat right. (1)

Chorus:

Keep them poor; keep them sick; keep them dumb.

The best health care is only meant for some.

If they are sick, then let the poor folks pray.

Reserve the healing drugs for those who pay.

Verse:

We will not vote to fund your public school.

And we don’t really care how bad it looks,

We’re better off with voters we can fool.

We’ll even back our bigots banning books.

Good education’s not for everyone.

You can’t fix stupid, so why even try?

Our base is better off if they have none.

If they were smarter, they’d bid us “bye-bye.”

Chorus:

Keep them poor; keep them sick; keep them dumb.

Good education’s only meant for some.

A smart electorate would seal our doom.

And we fear true democracy would bloom.

Coda:

Keep them poor; keep them sick; keep them dumb.

Prosperity is only meant for some.

Keep all non-whites and womenfolk in line.

And then all our rich donors will do fine.
