January 16, MLK Day

 

He had a dream: equality,

A dream for all of humanity,

All human beings on the Earth,

Brothers and sisters of equal worth.

 

Is everyone a child of God?

All human beings, peas in a pod?

It’s proven by biology

And attested by democracy.

 

Murdered because of his belief,

His death should have caused nationwide grief,

Not rising white supremacy,

And a movement toward autocracy.

 

Now Martin Luther King is gone,

His dream left to us to carry on.

The journey will be hard, we know;

We still have a long, long way to go.
