Are we monsters?

We put kids in cages.

Are our motives

And character vile?

Since our actions

Are what history gauges,

We all must know

That we’ll be on trial.

All the monsters

We’ve traced through the ages,

See “the other”

As one to defile.

Indifference

Just jumps off the pages.

Are both guilty:

Those who yawn, those who smile?
