Day 884, One Big Family

 

The Democrats look like America;

Republicans mostly look like one part.

Our scientists tell us: it’s Africa

Where Homo sapiens first got its start.

 

From Europe and Asia, now Mexico,

And African slaves…..for that no defense,

Migrant ancestors from all continents,

Make up our country, today, long ago.

 

All races, religions, genders now here.

Mixtures of talents enrich you and me.

But humans are tribal, that much is clear,

Leading to strife within our family tree.

 

Our ancestors fought and settled this land.

But now it’s past time to cooperate.

For, if we do not, we must understand

Democracy might just evaporate.
