Donald at the Bat – Day 1461, The Destruction of Donald Trump (exact meter of ‘The Destruction of Sennacherib’)

Day 1461, The Destruction of Donald Trump (1)

We saw Donald descend like a wolf on the fold,

In a lobby that glittered and gleamed in faux gold. (2)

‘Twas a spectacle for everybody to see,

From the shores of our country to deep Gallilee.

Like the Druids love forests, Trump loves the “long green,”

A narcissist, standing on high to be seen.

And, in just a short five years, his cover was blown;

His fortune, once great, would lie withered and strown.

For the Angel of Death, out of Wuhan would blast,

Infecting Trump’s hosts with its breath as it passed.

And Trump’s red-hot economy suffered Death’s chill

And the job growth Trump touted would shrink and lie still.

No more Playmates nor porn stars with legs opened wide,

With whom Donald Trump had been pictured with pride,

Were now like two gophers eating roots of Trump’s turf.

And Trump, like a white whale, was beached in the surf.

As Trump’s fortunes withered, anemic and pale,

He had hoped he could win if he slowed down the mail.

When he lost, even rats left him standing alone.

His lance now unlifted, unfit to be blown.

With the Proud Boys and QAnon loud in their wail,

The idols of Trump smashed like idols of Baal,

And the might of the Donald, smote by Covid’s sword,

Died in the pandemic, unsaved by the Lord.

And the lesson?  The worship of oneself and pelf, (3)

Hath vanquished the Donald.  He did it to himself.

(1)  See “The Destruction of Sennacherib,” by Lord Byron.  See II Kings: 18:13 through chapter 19.  During the reign of Hezekiah, Sennacherib, king of Assyria, attacked Israel, demanded, and received tribute from Hezekiah.  Hezekiah then repented of all his sins and a plague struck the Assyrian army and Jerusalem was saved.  Armies destroyed by infectious disease has been very common throughout history.

(2)  Trump kicked off his campaign in 2015, riding down his escalator in the Trump Tower lobby.

(3)  Look it up.
