Donald at the Bat – Day 1399, My Old Kentucky Home (parody to ‘My Old Kentucky Home’)

Day 1399, My Old Kentucky Home (1)

Every night I dream of my old Kentucky home,

The bluegrass, the bourbon, the coal,

Thoroughbreds and the rich on Kentucky Derby Day,

And the ex coal miners on the dole.

Gradually, each year, they’ve been closing down the mines,

Coal priced out by cheap, natural gas.

Donald Trump told us he would open them again

But we found he was talking out his ass.

We  voted for McConnell

And Trump election day,

Although Trump and Mitch are both working for the rich,

And our jobs have gone away to stay.

Covid 19 spreads and Kentucky’s been hit hard.

Trump says we should not be afraid.

As folks die like flies, could it be that he is wrong?

Could it be that Kentucky’s been betrayed?

We voted for McConnell

And Trump election day.

They’ve played us for fools and now we must pay the price.

We are faithful and we’ll stay that way.

Democrats have plans that will get us back to work,

And they say we should wear a mask.

But they’re socialists, so they cannot be correct,

Wearing  masks is just too much to ask.

We voted for McConnell

And Trump election day.

Democrats are liberal and fascist socialists,

So, we can’t fix anything their way.
