Day 1065, Christianity Today  (1,2) 

 

Donald Trump must be removed;

He, no longer, is approved.

Christianity Today

Says we must drive him away.

He’s no longer heaven-sent.

He must not be president.

 

Donald cheated and he lied;

Now he’s being crucified.

Christians, who had gone AWOL,

Finally heard their Master’s call.

Donald’s immorality

Is not Christianity.

 

Now that Christians say he’s bad,

Donald Trump is hopping mad.

He will tweet and he will rage;

He might wind up in a cage.

 

Will this be his epitaph:

Donald Trump, the Golden Calf?  (3)

 

(1)  Christianity Today is a prominent Evangelical Christian magazine, founded by Billy Graham in 1956.

(2)  This may be sung to “Rock of Ages,” Augustus Toplady, 1763, one of my favorite Christian hymns.

(3)  See Exodus: 32 for the story of the Golden Calf.  It was an idol that Aaron made for the children of Israel to worship while Moses was up on the mountain receiving the Ten Commandments.  When he came back down and saw the idol worship, he smashed the tablets of stone (no one knows what was written on the original tablets,) he ground up the Golden Calf, poured the powder in water and made all the people drink it.  Laws were broken, the idol was eventually processed into human waste, and God condemned all the people to wander in the desert for 40 years before any could enter the Promised Land. Does such a fate await us?
