Day 1039, Hark! The Russian Assets Sing (1)
Hark! The Russian assets sing,
Devin Nunes blithering.
Putin followed like a child,
Crazy charges reconciled.
There’s a pile of Donald’s lies
Rising high to reach the skies;
Yet Republicans proclaim,
It’s Ukrainians to blame.
Hark! The Russian assets sing;
Trump is Putin’s vassal king.
As impeachment’s drawing nigh,
We are fed lie after lie.
Putin wrote the Donald’s lines
And what Hannity opines.
There’s no evidence Ukraine
Caused our 2016 pain;
It’s a fictional account,
Fraudulent, it should not count.
As impeachment’s drawing nigh,
Trump repeats lie after lie.
If Ukrainians mixed in
They help Donald Trump to win.
Those who hacked were on his side.
Why are Donald’s kishkas fried? (2)
If Ukraine helped Donald cheat,
They caused Hillary’s defeat.
Why should Trump investigate?
Shouldn’t he appreciate
That Ukrainians mixed in
And helped Donald Trump to win?
(1) May be sung to “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” lyrics by Charles Wesley (1739) and George Whitefield, who modified Wesley’s original text. Today’s familiar melody was adapted in 1840 by William Cummings from Felix Mendelssohn’s cantata written to commemorate Johannes Gutenberg’s invention of moveable type.
(2) Kishkas, Yiddish for “intestines” or “guts.” See “The Joys of Yiddish,” by Leo Rosten.
