Darwin Birthday Concert at UCSD Faculty Club (update)

There are a few updates about the concert at the UCSD faculty club. First, reservations are required by calling the faculty club at 858-534-0876; 24 cancellation policy. Do not call Tom Mignano or email him as mentioned in earlier emails and on the website.

The price for the whole evening will be $40 per person.

The evening begins at 6pm, not 6:30 – there will be a no-host bar cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres. Dinner follows at 7pm and the concert begins at 8pm.

Please join us in a first ever Darwin birthday celebration at the faculty club. Brings friends and family to help celebrate this event with Dr. Stephen Baird and The Galapagos Mountain Boys as they sing songs in praise of evolution by natural selection, honoring the bicentennial of Charles Darwin’s birth in 1809, and his life’s contributions to science and our knowledge of how we got here from the beginning of time.

This concert is part of a worldwide celebration of the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth, a man who may well have had the best idea anybody ever had. February 12th also marks the bicentenary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. On February 12, 1809, the world was forever changed because two amazing men came into it. One changed the course of scientific thinking that has subsequently revolutionized and organized all of biological science, while the other changed the course of our national history, thus making our newest president able to attain the highest office in the land. We should be grateful that these two men were born.
