Dr. Baird says, “Somewhere at some point, the universe evolved a creature that could actually contemplate how it got here. That is an absolutely awe-inspiring idea. When human beings evolved and became intelligent, and started thinking, that’s when the universe became aware of itself.”

Dr. Baird has given many lectures to several genealogy societies and even at the International Association of Jewish Genealogy Society’s summer seminar last year. He always brings his guitar with him to illustrate his subject matter with a song or two. This year, his annual speaking engagement at the April program will be at the North San Diego County Genealogical Society’s meeting on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 10am in the Carlsbad City Council Chambers just below the Cole Carlsbad City Library off Carlsbad Village Drive just one block east of the I-5 freeway. He will be speaking about The Science of Human Reproduction – Implication for The Future of Genealogy. This will include a discussion about spern and egg donors, frozen embryos, stem cells and cloning as well as what the X and Y chromosomes reveal about family relationships. DNA testing and its accuracy will also be explored.
