August 16, Liz Leaving Congress (parody to ‘Red River Valley’)

August 16, Liz Leaving Congress (1)

From the Congress, they say you are leaving;

You and Dad both served there quite a while.

Now they say you are leaving your party

In the hands of those Trump can beguile.

So, go home, ride the range, brand some cattle.

We know we have not bid you adieu.

And we know, although you lost this battle,

There’s no way in hell that you are through.

All Republicans have become Trumpists,

Salivating when Trump rings a bell.

They have joined Donald in his last roundup,

Sliding down a greased rail, straight to hell.

So, go home, ride the range, brand some cattle.

We know we have not bid you adieu.

And we know, although you lost this battle,

There’s no way in hell that you are through.

  • May be sung to “Red River Valley,” a song of uncertain, 19th century origin. There are Red Rivers in both the western US and Canada.
