If look at our new House, we can see that Democrats
Look just like all Americans, not just its plutocrats.
Republicans, still old white men, hope they can cling to power.
But Spring is coming and they’ll watch a brand new garden flower.
Republicans cannot suppress the vote eternally.
It’s like a plot to keep Italians out of Italy.
America is moving on; we represent mankind,
Not just the pale male part of it; we’re getting redefined.
A party can hang on to power, though their philosophy
Is suited for a bygone age, grandfather’s recipe.
A time when race and gender governed who’s allowed to vote.
“The times, they are a’changin,” now, and that’s not all she wrote. (1)
And, speaking of what she wrote and what she has yet to write,
It’s been a long, dark journey, but we’re moving into light.
The light is spreading through the land, from sea to shining sea,
We’re led by grandma, RBG, and daughter, AOC.
With Congress drawn from all of us and not just old, white men,
All races, genders, and religions, every viewpoint, then
The dream that made America may finally come to pass.
And, on the way, some old white men may get kicked in the ass.

(2) RBG, Associate Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginzburg. AOC, Congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. The three letter honorific was originally used only for presidents: JFK, LBJ, etc. Now its use has expanded to these distinguished women. Sometimes RBG is referred to as “the notorious RBG.” AOC is already considered notorious by some. We’ll see if she lives up to the title.
